“Trust In God, Not In Yourself”

Proverbs 3:5-8

Trust is defined as reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety of a person or thing; confidence; trustworthy; faith; hope; expectation.

We have to choose to trust in the Lord. He is infinite, all-powerful, all-wise, and all-loving. When we’re faced with problems, situations and circumstances, temptation is to cut out God and trust in our own abilities. God warns against this. Proverbs 28:26 says that “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool.” When we give our lives to Jesus, He not only gives us the gift of eternal life, but makes us “wise, acceptable, and holy.” Anything good and trustworthy about us is not from us. It’s from God. Trusting God protects us, transforms us, and sets us free. God designed us to think for ourselves. That’s one reason the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was present in the garden. God simply did not design us to think by ourselves. It is not irrational for very limited, contingent creatures to depend on the guidance of an omniscient, self-existing Creator to know how to live. It is eminently reasonable for us to trust in Him with all our heart. That’s wisdom; that’s sanity.

I come by this morning to let you know it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man or woman. The bible tells us that God rewards those who trust Him. May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace as we trust in Him, so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Be bless and I love you!!! JE
