“Procrastination”

Colossians 3:23-25

Procrastination is defined as putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention; indecisive; postponement.

The word of God encourages us to labor honestly and diligently for the benefit of ourselves and others. There are so many people who are avoiding their responsibilities and therefore suffering the consequences. Procrastination is a destroyer of blessings. It can rob us of self-confidence, reliability, and personal peace. In Proverbs 18:9, the bible says, "He also who is slack in his work is brother to him who destroys." There are several reasons we put things off; (1) fear, (2) laziness, (3) doubt, (4) habit and (5) anxiety. Had Adam and Eve not sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, none of us would be struggling today against the ravages of such personal evils as procrastination. To stir up the gifts of God, we must ask Him to be in our life in all ways, large and small. Ending our habit of procrastinating may seem small, but who knows what we might be able to accomplish once we learn to stop putting things off. Whenever we procrastinate, we always find a way to blame something other than ourselves for our procrastination; we’re too tired, too sleepy, too busy, or too stressed.

I come by this morning to let you know the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. God wants us to manage properly what we have now, before He will entrust us with more. In fact, if we don’t learn to appreciate and manage well the time and the responsibilities we have, we run the risk of losing even that. Let’s end procrastination today. Be bless and I love you!!!
