“Jesus Only Sees Us For Who We Are”

1 Peter 1:3-4

Sees is defined as to perceive with the eyes; look at;  identify; observe; recognize; discern.

Many of us find ourselves basing our self-worth on how others see us and on our accomplishments, feeling shame from our past, defining our value based on our looks or setting unrealistic standards for ourselves. It doesn’t have to be this way. If only we could see ourselves as God sees us. Our identity is found in Jesus Christ. Our identity is that of a child of God and a joint heir with Jesus Christ. Our spiritual inheritance is one of forgiveness, an intimate relationship with Jesus, and hope of spending all eternity enjoying fellowship with God. These truths assure us of God’s unconditional love, and of the intimacy, security, and hope we find in him. None of this is based on what we do; rather, it is grounded in what God has already accomplished through Christ. In and through his grace, God heals us and brings us freedom to live a new life. Sometimes grace does not come easily to us. We have to work at changing our thinking. We need to humble ourselves to accept God’s grace and extend grace to ourselves when we don’t measure up, knowing that God already sees us as the perfect reflections of Christ that we will be in eternity. In Jeremiah 1:5 says; “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

I come by this morning to let you know God gives us a new clarity when we come to Him. We begin to see life a whole lot better. We see ourselves. We see our problems. We see our past, our present, our future. Everything gets a little clearer the closer we get to God. We have to see ourselves as God sees us. Jesus says in Matthew 12:35, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. Be bless and I love you!!!
