“Spiritual Stability”

Deuteronomy 32:4

Stability is defined as endurance; perseverance; steadfastness; dependability.

We are tossed here and there by the various trials and difficulties in our everyday life. The bible describes spiritual infants and the double-minded as being tossed like the “waves of the sea.” We are spiritually unstable. However, our faith in Christ should enable us to stand firm. Paul encourages the Philippians to “stand firm in the Lord.” Paul said whatever happens, they should stand firm in one spirit. Trials attacking the Philippians could cause them to give up ground to the enemy. They were being persecuted for their faith, people in the church were arguing and complaining and false teachers were attacking the congregation. These difficulties could shake their faith in Christ. Still, Paul encourages them to stand firm. The word stand firm means to persist or preserve. Spiritual stability comes from a continual pursuit of knowing Christ. We must always press to know Christ more, like Paul. Knowing and being like him must be our one thing if we are going to develop spiritual stability in our lives. Otherwise, we will always be tossed to and fro like the waves of the sea, up and down in our spiritual lives.

I come by this afternoon to let you know in order to have spiritual stability we must pursue intimacy with Christ and Christlikeness. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe. Be bless and I love you!!! JE
