“No More Bondage, We Are Free To Praise Him”

2 Corinthians 3:17-18

Bondage is defined as slavery or involuntary servitude; yoke; enslavement; chains.

Because of what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross for us, everyone who puts their faith in Him has a completely revitalized relationship with God. The cross represented what Jesus Christ accomplished completely for healing us through His death on the cross; (1) Propitiation, which means that God’s holy wrath against sin is fully satisfied by Jesus’ death on the cross. God is no longer angry at your sin. (2) Reconciliation, your relationship with God is restored, no longer broken. (3) Redemption, we were purchased out of bondage to sin and released into freedom to serve God. One thief who was crucified recognized that he was like a sheep who had gone astray and turned to his own way. His inner light was rekindled in the presence of “the true Light, which lighteth every man.” He did not join in the mocking. Instead he appealed to the Good Shepherd, seizing upon the tenuous hope that he might be saved: “Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” The Savior graciously answered and gave him hope. This criminal likely did not understand that the gospel would be preached to him in the spirit world or that he would be given an opportunity to live according to God in the spirit. Truly the Savior cared for the thief who hung beside Him; surely He cares greatly for those who love Him and strive to keep His commandments. Did you know that every human being born on this planet is born into bondage? I don’t care where you live or how much money and status you have. You were born into bondage. Bondage to what? Colossians 1:13 says you were in bondage to “the kingdom of darkness.” In John 8:34, Jesus Himself said, “everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” We were born in bondage to sin.

I come by this evening to let you know, God is a burden bearer and He will bring you out of bondage into a place of peace. The moment we trusted in Christ as our Savior, we were set free from being a slave to sin in our life and now we are free to praise Him. Christ’s blood set us free. Be blessed and I love you!!! JE
