Philippians 4:6-9
Serenity is defined as being calm; peacefulness; patience; stillness.
God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can and the wisdom to know the difference. We must be in a peaceful and calm state. Paul in his letter is telling his friends that he has learned that the secret to joy is being content. He talks about accepting his circumstances, whether good or bad. Paul also shares where his courage and strength come from, Jesus. This is good news. We too can draw strength from God in the times when we’re not able to cope with life’s challenges. As we learn to trust God more with the situations out of our control, we can trust Him to work on us as well. We must be willing to take the steps to change in order for God to truly work. This does not mean that we have to earn God’s favor in our lives but rather that we make ourselves available for His power to work in us. In Titus 3:9 it teaches us to “avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
I come by this morning to let you know our steps are directed by the Lord. The power to overcome sin comes from the Lord not man or woman. The Lord reminds us, “for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” Be bless and I love you!!! JE
