“The Spirit Of Giving”

Acts 20:35

Giving is defined as to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation; bestowing; awarding; contributing.

If are a Giver, you have the Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by giving of your material resources, to further the work of God. When you’re giving to get is the wrong motive of giving. The bible states that God loves a cheerful giver and that Jesus taught it is better to give then receive. Being able to receive a gift with gratitude is a sign of a healthy, humble spirit, which is also pleasing to God. In the final hours with His disciples, Jesus sets a powerful example to serve one another by washing their feet and gives them a new commandment to focus on love. A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another. The body of believers is meant to be a community, united in love, that openly blesses one another when a need arises and simply just because it can. As Christmas comes it’s important to remember the act of giving first started with God and that our own gifts are a way to honor Him and to extend His love to others.

I come by this evening to remind you the reason for this season as not receiving a gift but giving in love and expecting nothing in return. Let your hearts be pure and full of gratefulness. God gave us the first Christmas present, Jesus, and helps us to see the deep desire God has for us to become His family through Christ, sharing fellowship and faith together as we call the lost home. Be blessed and I love you all much!!! Enjoy your Christmas Eve!!! JE
