Matthew 6:19-21
Business is defined an occupation, profession, or trade; specialty; assignment; affairs.
We must be obedient to the commands of Christ. We must be about our Father’s business. We are called to know Him and serve Him. Now Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him "Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously." And he said to them, "How is it that you sought me? Did you now know that I must be in my Father's house?" We must know these 3 things when we’re about our Father’s business: (1) Know your identity - be secured in Him. (2) Know your heart- be motivated by Him, not man or woman. (3) Know your Father’s business - be concerned about His works.
I come by this blessed morning to let you know, Jesus had recognized His unique sonship to God and that His mission will require of Him a devotion to God's purposes so great that it takes precedence over the closest family ties. We must do as Jesus did and follow our calling, even if it brings pain and misunderstanding. We all must be about our Father’s business. Be bless and I love you!!! JE
Amen!
