Ephesians 3:17-21
Grasp is defined as to seize and hold by or as if by clasping with the fingers or arms; grip; understand; seize; clinch; take hold of.
God wants to fill us so that we image Him to others. We were fashioned to be godlike. If we grasp the full love of Christ, we won’t grab at other things to fill us. At the core of who we are, we crave the acceptance that comes from being loved. To satisfy this longing we will either be graspers of God’s love or grabbers for people’s love. To be filled with something is to be in its grip: to have that thing become the controlling influence in our actions/behavior. To be filled with the fullness of God means that God is the controlling influence at a given moment governing our feelings, desires, thoughts, hopes, relationships, words, actions and reactions. At any given time, we may be hungry, sad, lonely, righteously indignant, but we are not allowing those emotions to control us. We are continuing to walk in the Spirit. To be filled with the fullness of God is to be conscious of and yielded to God’s presence, strength, care for others, spiritual authority, moral excellence and character (holiness, righteousness, love).
I come by this morning to let you know we must die to our flesh in order to walk in the fullness of God. Say yes to Your will Lord and yes to Your way. I ask you the question again, “Are you willing to tell your flesh no, so that you can grasp the fullness of God? My answer is Yes!!! We are to be led by the Spirit. And the Spirit guides us into truth by speaking to us the word of Christ. The flesh leads us by carnal and selfish desires. Only Jesus has the words of eternal life. That’s why “it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. Be bless and I love you!!! JE
