“Walking Upright In The Ways Of The Lord”

Psalms 84:11

Upright is defined as adhering to rectitude; righteous, honest, or just; straightforward; pure.

The word walking is used in the bible to describe our manner of life or our habitual conduct in life. The psalmist spoke of some who walk uprightly. The psalmist was not speaking of these people posture, but rather of their character. In this sense of the word we do need to be taught how to walk. We are told, O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. We need instructions from God to know how to conduct our lives. Enoch walked with God and so did Noah. Walking with God suggests fellowship and closeness to God. We, too, can walk with God in this sense of the word, but to do so, we must walk in the manner that God instructs, uprightly, not in the way of evil. In Genesis 13:17, God spoke to Abraham and told him, Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.

I come by this morning to let you know God is upright and we are told in scripture that He has pleasure in uprightness. Although man and woman has become twisted from God’s original upright position, God has not given up on us. We must be dedicated to walking upright in the ways of the Lord, daily. The upright will dwell with God and will delight themselves in abundance of peace. Be blessed and I love you!!! JE
